The Domaine du Coulet is rooted in Cornas on the Northern Rhône. Matthieu Barret took over the management of the winery in 1998, consistently converted it to organic cultivation and later had it certified according to Biodyvin guidelines. In addition to his own wines from his 20 hectares in Cornas, he offers entry-level wines made from purchased organic grapes through the Matthieu Barret trading house.

His own plots are spread across different terroirs on the fairly cool and windy slopes of Cornas. Mathieu Barret works with as little intervention as possible. Only small amounts of sulfites are used. His Cornas are – in accordance with the appellation guidelines – 100% Syrah. A white Côtes du Rhône is created on the 3.7 hectares planted with Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. His red wines primarily play with fruit and are not trimmed for hardness and tannins.
